Suzen, in summary...

Hawai’i born, Suzen Murakoshi holds an MFA in playwriting and acting from the New School for Drama in New York City. Her latest work, Hā Hā Hawai`i, is a piece she’s devising with Director Aitor Basauri of Spymonkey, UK. Suzen also continues to explore the physical play world of clowning with Christopher Bayes
and Philippe Gaulier.

Her resume includes Broadway, off-Broadway, and stages across America, Canada and Europe. Her other pieces include Breathe, Love, Repeat, a solo play, and Slippery When Wet, a look at race in America. Both have received wide critical acclaim in America and internationally.


Awards:

  • Short-listed for the Acting Excellence Award for “Helen” in Slippery When Wet at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

  • Recognition in Washington D.C. for her role in Yerma at Arena Stage  by Senator Daniel Akaka and the Latin-American House Sub-Committee.

  • 2007, Mayoral Proclamation from Michael Bloomberg and the City of New York for her work with the Kids Project as the Artistic Director.
